Whiteface Mountain is a true destination ski mountain and a better fit for families with confident skiers rather than first-timers.  The terrain is big and challenging, with long runs and serious vertical, but lessons are available if you’re working your way up to it.  This is very much a ski-focused experience where the payoff is the mountain itself, not extra activities.
