Up a flight of stairs above the boutiques on Wooster Street, there's a 3,600-square-foot SoHo loft filled edge to edge with 280,000 pounds of dirt... and it's been there since 1977. Artist Walter De Maria installed it as a temporary show and it simply never left. Free, open Wednesday through Sunday, and no photos allowed inside per the artist's wishes.
