Before The Beekman stood here, this was the site of Clinton Hall, where Edgar Allan Poe worked and published *The Broadway Journal* in the 1840s. Today you can step inside The Beekman to see its incredible nine-story atrium, part of the Temple Court building that opened in 1883.
