Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site

244 Central St, Saugus, MA 01906, USA

About

The site of America’s first integrated ironworks, built in the 1640s to supply the colonies with tools, nails, and more, was powered entirely by water.  Kids can walk through the reconstructed blast furnace, watch the water wheels turn, and explore scenic nature trails along the river.  Free to visit, with seasonal guided tours and demos that bring early industry to life.
