The Mt. Nimham Fire Tower is the tallest standing historic fire tower in New York State, and the hike to get there is a short 1.3-mile loop with just over 300 feet of elevation gain, making it very doable for families. From the top you get 360-degree views stretching to the Manhattan skyline, the Catskills, and the Berkshires. The climb up the tower itself can feel high and sways in the wind, so it's not for kids uncomfortable with heights.
