Housed in a beautiful 1904 Beaux-Arts firehouse in Hudson Square, this is the official museum of the FDNY with one of the country's best collections of firefighting artifacts, from hand-pumped engines and horse-drawn vehicles to modern gear. There's a fire safety education program for kids and a moving 9/11 memorial honoring the 343 FDNY members lost that day. Currently closed until further notice, so check the website before you go.
