Hopewell Furnace is an outdoor historic site where you walk between restored 1700s buildings, from the giant iron furnace to workers’ homes and barns.  Families can see farm animals, explore the village at their own pace, and catch seasonal ranger demos that show how iron was made.  Free to visit, plan for about 1–2 hours of outdoor exploring with school-age kids and up.
