About
Built in 1844, this hexagonal fort has guarded the mouth of the Piscataqua River through five wars and has somehow never seen real combat. You can wander the grounds year-round and picnic right by the water, but the museum only opens up between Memorial Day and Columbus Day. Small admission fee to get in.
