About
America's oldest apothecary, open since 1838 in Greenwich Village. The legend goes that Thomas Edison came here to treat his burned fingers while developing the light bulb, and Mark Twain had a regular charge account. Still family run, still selling some of the original formulas, and there's a resident cat named Allegra (named after the allergy medicine because the owner is allergic to cats).
